2022 Student Symposium Program
Description:
Through collaborating with three other group members in my Professional Writing class, we were able to create this year’s Student Symposium program for Rocky Mountain College. We took the information from a messy and confusing spreadsheet, organized it for easy reading, and then listed the information in alphabetical order by the department for the poster presentations and chronological order by speaking time for the oral presentations.
It was a great opportunity to build my experience in graphic design (I designed the cover image by myself) and to collaborate with others. It’s a great feeling to create something and contribute to a student event. The Student Symposium features scholarly works from students across campus, showcasing their research as short lectures, posters, demonstrations, or exhibits.

Men’s Basketball Photo Story
For my last semester of college, I enrolled in a digital photography class to broaden my skill set. To practice event photography, I shot the Rocky Mountain College men’s basketball game against Carroll College on January 27. I then edited the photos in Lightroom to improve their quality. Although I still have a lot to learn, I’m developing skills such as building my photographic vision, using a DSLR camera, using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, and completing a photographic workflow from capturing to editing to output.

Humanities Marketing Campaign
As part of my independent study course, Social Media Communication and Marketing, I independently created a strategic campaign to promote the Humanities at the college. In creating my campaign, I highlighted a need of the college, conducted research, formed goals, formed hashtags, and created a two-month-long campaign that not only matched the goals of the college as a whole but promoted the benefits and skills gained by majoring in the Humanities.
The campaign was composed of both photographs and videos. I interviewed students from all of the Humanities majors at the college, shot, and edited the videos myself. I selected photos from the RMC database that exemplified connection and opportunity to promote the values of the college.

Ghostwriting
I ghostwrote six chapters out of a ten chapter book for a business mentorship company that helps small businesses build and scale their companies. Through professional research, my writing focused on business communication. Specifically, my largest focus was rapport building and brand development.
The book was targeted towards entrepreneurs with the purpose of creating strategies to generate multiple revenue streams, how to conquer significant challenges of business scalability, and the best way to adapt in an every-changing culture. The company has been lauded by Forbes Magazine, Good Morning America, and Entrepreneur Magazine.

Homecoming Marketing Campaign
In the summer of 2021, I was hired by the alumni department at Rocky Mountain College to fill in for two women on leave. My main focus was to promote the homecoming weekend to alumni. Over the course of the campaign, my posts reached an average of 2,400 Facebook users.
For alumni, homecoming can mean seeing people they haven’t seen in years. This gives a chance for alumni to come back and talk to their old friends and teachers, and reconnect for the future. Homecoming is also a good way for old friends to talk about memories they have had at their school, and see how the school has changed since they have been gone. It gives alumni a chance to go back where it all started, and appreciate how far they have come. These values were the focus of my campaign.
